Juan Manuel “Cochito” López, the Argentinean driver who had a very successful first season in the International GT Open last year, has signed with Scuderia Villorba Corse to race a Ferrari 458 GT2 this coming season. The agreement was announced by Cochito and Raimondo Amadio, the team principal of the Italian squad, during a press conference in Buenos Aires, at the presence of Froilán González, the legendary F.1 driver of the ‘50s.
Cochito López (30), a GTS Champion in the Iber GT 2010, took 4th final spot in his maiden season in the GT Open, after winning four races for Vittoria Competizioni. with a F430. The Argentine is thrilled about the season’s prospects: “Joining a top team as Villorba is a significant step forward and I am confident we will be fighting for the title.”
Villorba will present its racing program and announce Lopez’s team mate in Italy in the forthcoming weeks.
