Ciao, Speedy

Today is a very sad day for GT Sport and the entire community of the International GT Open and Euroformula Open. Niki Sciarra, founder and owner of FotoSpeedy, the official photo agency of our series, passed away on Friday eve in his home town of Pescara (Italy), at the early age of 55, after a one-year long fight against illness.

Niki was a true motorsport lover and managed to turn a hobby into his profession, founding over two decades ago Fotospeedy, today an internationally recognized agency that he ran together with his two sons, Gianluca and Andrea, to whom he transmitted the same passion for races and images.

Niki believed in the GT Open since the very beginning, covering it since Day 1, to become our official photo provider three years later. Always with a smile on his face, Niki had a contagious warm and positive personality that granted him everybody’s friendship.  More than a member of the family, he was one of those who contributed most to creating a family spirit in our paddock. His wit, cheerfulness and sense of humor will be sorely missed.

In this very sad moment, we share the grief of his wife Manuela, his family and many friends, and in particular to Gianluca and Andrea, now at the helm of FotoSpeedy. They can be assured that Niki will live on in our hearts.
