Dominik and Mario Farnbacher confirmed as drivers of the Farnbacher Racing Lexus RC-F GT3

15.03.2017

Farnbacher Racing, one of the two teams that will enter in the GT Open the new Lexus RC-F GT3, as announced last week, has confirmed its driver line-up: Dominik and Mario Farnbacher will be at the wheel of the all-new machine.

The news will not come as a surprise, as the two brothers are key pillars in the family team and raced the pre-FIA homologation version of the RCF in the VLN series last year, clinching an historic win in the 9th round of the season.

Dominik (32) is the elder and more experienced of the Farnbacher siblings. He has raced GT cars all over the world, clinching an Asian Le Mans title in 2009, GT wins at the Daytona (2005) and Nürburgring (2010-11) 24 Hours, and finishing three times as runner-up at Le Mans. Mario (24) started with single-seaters before switching to GTs and has a SP7 class win at last year’s Nürbrugring 24 Hours.

Dominik Farnbacher commented: “ We’re very much looking forward to taking the new Lexus RC F GT3 to the GT Open and therefore on international race tracks. We’re seeing 2017 as a preparation year still but it’s nevertheless going to be a very important season for us and we have set high standards for ourselves to achieve good results – for our team who’s putting in so much effort and also for Lexus. I’m sure it will be an exciting season and Mario and me can’t wait to take the steering wheel in our hands again and take the car to its limits. If we might secure a podium or even a victory that would of course be awesome. But first of all we’d like to lay the groundwork for 2018."
