Rob Bell (Balfe McLaren) in pole for Race1


Rob Bell is the first poleman of the year. The Brit of Balfe Motorsport was fastest in the first qualifying exercise of the season with the McLaren 650S shared with Shaun Balfe. In a sunny morning in Estoril, he stopped the clock in 1.36.346. While seven cars finished within one second, the second-fastest was left at 5 tenths. Front row is nonetheless an excellent result for the debuting Lexus RC-F of Emil Frey Racing, with Albert Costa at the wheel.

In second row, the Garage59 McLaren of Côme Ledogar and the AF Corse Ferrari of Marco Cioci. The first Lambo, the Imperiale Racing car of Giovanni Venturini, shares third row with the first Mercedes AMG, the one of Drivex in the hands of Allam Khodair.

Another Mercedes topped the rankings in the Am category, with reigning class co-champion António Coimbra (Sports&You) beating the BMW of fellow home racer Filipe Barreiros. It was a smoothly session, with no incidents whatsoever to report.
