On track and on time ! The Winter Test at Circuit Paul Ricard has started with only a few minutes of delay this morning and a nice winter sun is now shining on the track near Castellet, after the mayhem caused by the wave of bad weather that has affected the whole Europe. This impacted mostly on the traffic of trucks, which most of them arriving during the night.
Eventually 17 cars are present, eight less than the confirmed entries. Among GT Open championship contenders, Imperiale Racing (3 cars), Team Lazarus (1) and SPS Automotive Performance (1) are the ones that couldn’t make it.
BMW Team Teo Martín attends with two BMW M6 and Andrés Saravia, Márcio Basso and João Mauro as drivers, while the Lamborghini delegation includes Ombra Racing (Damiano Fioravanti-Fernando Rees) and Vincenzo Sospiri Racing (Giulio Borlenghi, Nicolas Costa, Kang Ling). Luzich Racing debuts with its two Ferraris and its full line-up (Mikkel Mac, Alexander West, Ale Pier Guidi, Michele Rugolo, Marco Cioci), with the Prancing Horse’s colours also being well defended by Rinaldi Racing (Rinat Salikhov-Dominik Schwager and Vadim Kogay-David Perel), Spirit of Race with two 488 (Christoph Ulrich-Maurizio Mediani and Marco Seefried-Murat Sultanov) and one 458 (Simon Mann-Matteo Cressoni), and Kessel Racing, with three 488 for Stephen Earle, John Hartshorne, Oliver Hancock, Claudio Schiavoni, Sergio Pianezzola and Andrea Piccini. Last but not least, the Mercedes camp is represented by the Lechner Racing car (Mario Plachutta-Thomas Jäger) and the unit of Drivex (Marcelo Hahn-Allam Khodair), with the Spanish team also bringing its SLS (Luca Serpieri).
The teams will have four 1-hour sessions of track time on both days, today and tomorrow.
