27-car entry list for much-awaited Spa round!

05.06.2018

The nicest track in the world”: this is the tag line used by Spa-Francorchamps to publicize itself … and few would disagree. The legendary track in the Ardennes hills is arguably the most popular track for drivers and fans alike. The Belgian temple of speed will host the third round of the International GT Open, one that promises to be particularly exciting.

Not only the fight the 2018 titles is as open and intense as ever in the three classes (Pro, Pro-Am and Am), but the Spa round will have a fantastic 27-car grid, with some stellar additions, and the event will offer fans a great race programme, with the GT Open and sister F.3 based series, the Euroformula, joined by the TCR Europe and the Radical Challenge Championship.

The 27-car entry list has been released today and sees a number of new entries and additional heavy-weights joining the series, as anticipated in our website.

Luzich Racing enters a third car for GT stars Marco Cioci-Matt Griffin, to support the team’s efforts and Mikkel Mac’s current standings leadership. At Spa, the Dane will again team up with WEC GT champion Alessandro Pier Guidi.

Stalwart Czech team Senkyr Motorsport will make its first appearance of the season, with the BMW M6 entrusted to young guns Richard Gonda-Joel Eriksson, the Swedish DTM racer making here his GT3 debut.

Keeping up with the tradition, the Brussels Racing won’t miss the home event, entrusting its up-graded Aston Martin to a top pair of local heroes, Tim Verbergt-Wolfgang Reip.

Rinaldi Racing is also coming to Belgium with a third Ferrari, to be driven by  Russia’s Rinat Salikhov.

Other novelties include driver changes with Brazilian GT and Stock car star Allam Khodair back at the wheel of the Drivex Mercedes alongside Marcelo Hahn, and Edoardo Liberati joining the Vincenzo Sospiri Racing to share the Lambo with Kang Ling, with whom he campaigned the GT Open last year.
