Porteiro Motorsport is the first team to confirm an additional entry to the 2018 season-closing finale of the GT Open at Barcelona. The Spanish squad, based in Catellón and run by the Porteiro father and sons, has played a crucial role in coaching young drivers for over two decades and will enter its Mercedes AMG in the Am category. The car was seen precisely at Barcelona during the Winter Test earlier this year.
At the wheel will be two American drivers wishing to explore the European GT scene. Charles Finelli (55, from New York) has been racing for over a decade in fingle-seater formulae (Pro Mazda and F.2000) in the US; Phillippe Denes (19, from Los Angeles) has a similar background, but switched to GT racing this year, taking a class win at the 12 Hours of Silverstone.
