The Lamborghini Huracans EVO of Emil Frey Racing stormed in Qualifying 1, on a chilly morning at Silverstone, to trust the first row for Race 1 this afternoon.
Inaugurating the new qualifying system (which determines grid position on the basis of the average of the best lap of each driver), championship co-leaders Giacomo Altoè and Albert Costa each proved fastest. They beat their team mates Mikaël Grenier-Norbert Siedler by 0.656 seconds. Second row will be for the McLaren of Fran Rueda-Andrés Saravia (Teo Martín) and the Mercedes of Fabrizio Crestani-Miguel Ramos (SPS Performance), with the other points co-leaders, Henrique Chaves-Martin Kodric (McLaren Teo Martin), with some handling problems, in third row together with the other SPS Mercedes of Tom Onslow-Cole – Valentin Pierburg.
Giuseppe Cipriani took the pole in Am, while his team mate at Antonelli Motorsport suffered a crash that prompted a red flag.
