Rugolo (AF Corse) fastest before the rain at the Ricard

28.02.2014

The private test day of the Winter Series at the Paul Ricard was dominated by changing weather, with only the first two sessions taking place on dry track. Rain fell heavily at lunch time, with the track starting to dry again only at the end of session 4.

Peter Kox was an unfortunate star of the day, as he sat what was going to be the fastest time of session 1 (and the fourth best of the day) in the very initial laps before hitting heavily the barriers at Signes. The Lambo got damaged beyond repair and the Dutchman had to be brought to the medial center as he complained of rib pain.

In session 2, Michele Rugolo with the AF Corse Ferrari shared with Claudio Sdanewitsch signed the best time of the day (2.08.129) ahead of the Pro Alméras Porsche of Dermont-Lasserre and the SMP Racing Ferrari of Zampieri-Mavlanov. The Italian and the Russian then dominated the two afternoon sessions on the wet.

To be noted the absence of the Mercedes of Mario Plachutta, as the Austrian broke a leg while skiing on Wednesday.
