FF Corse, the reputed British team and faithful Ferrari customer, is back to the International GT Open and will contest three rounds this season (Spa, Hungaroring and Barcelona). The Silverstone-based squad’s GT Open campaign was in 2017.
The team will enter a Ferrari 488 for Belgium’s Laurent de Meeus, who has been a regular contender in Ferrari Challenge competitions and British GT for some years, and Jamie Stanley, who made his last appearance in the GT Open in 2016 and has been active mostly in the 24 Hours Series and British GT since then.
The car is brand new and de Meeus had the privilege to shake-down it at Fiorano at the moment of delivery before performing several test sessions in England.
Laurent de Meeus: “I am really excited to have my first GT3 race at Spa, my favorite and sort of my home track as I originally come from Belgium. After several years with Ferrari Challenge, I am looking forward to a different racing format and one where I can share the wheel with Jamie who has coached me since my first race. I hope to do well although my expectations are more to learn and develop a better feel of what is a new car for me.”
Jamie Stanley: “I’m really looking forward to returning to GT Open with Laurent and FF Corse for a part season this year as Laurent gets up to speed in his GT3. He’s made great steps with FF Corse in the Ferrari challenge and this is just the beginning of his next chapter of racing. GT Open gives us a great platform to race competitively while also offering great amounts of track time for Laurent to develop his skills, I have really fond memories of GT Open in a 488GT3 and I can’t wait to add more.”
