Championship co-leader Frederik Schandorff took pole, his first of the season, this morning ahead of Race 2 in Imola. The Dane stopped the clock in 1.40.121, at the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracan of Vincenzo Sospiri Racing, the team based a few kilometers from the track. “It’s nice to finally take a pole”, he commented, “It was a strange session, with the track quite different from yesterday. I think the fog and the few drops of rain of yesterday evening, made it greasier, it took some time to understand the track and adjust to it.”
Sharing first row will be the Audi Sport Italia Audi R8 LMS of Riccardo Agostini, who was only 0s098 slower. In second row will be Ollie Millroy, with the McLaren of Inception Racing, fastest among Pro-Am cars (+0s527) and the AKM Motorsport Mercedes of Loris Spinelli (+0s545). The engine had to be changed on the car of yesterday’s winner.
In third row, the top Am contender, Jens Liebhauser, in the other AKM Mercedes (+1s286) and Al Faisal Al Zubair in the Porsche of Lechner Racing (+1s315).
