Few hours before the start of the Winter Test, Team Motopark has announced the first driver line-up for its two-car maiden campaign in the International GT Open. The Mercedes AMG GT3 #45 will be in the hands of a South American pair of young guns: Diego Menchaca (28) from Mexico and Marcos Siebert (26) from Argentina, who will race in Pro.
Both have in common a successful past in single-seaters (and in the Euroformula Open, the sister series of the GT Open) before switching to GTs and sportscars.
Diego Menchaca, who earlier this year won the Dubai 24 Hours, commented: “I’m very happy and motivated for this new challenge together with Motopark and Marcos. Motopark is a team that we both looked up to during our single-seater careers, so to start this GT3 journey together with them is very cool. We know we’ve got a bit challenge ahead of us as the championship’s competitiveness has been growing a lot in the past few years, which makes it very motivating. I’d like to thank all the sponsors that made this possible, especially Atman Capital and Escuderia Telmex and of course, Timo and Motopark for pushing so hard to put this project together.”
Timo Rumpfkeil, Team Principal of Team Motopark, added: “I am delighted to welcome Diego and Marcos to our GT open team. Their CVs speak for themselves and it is a great honour to have such a professional driver line-up. We are sure we can provide them with the right kind of equipment to fight for race wins from the go and we can’t wait for the season to kick off in Portimão end of April. We have a very compressed program until then to make sure everything is 100% ready and perfectly sharp to start into the season with the strongest performance level”.
