Summer was still in full strength as the International GT Open contenders took the track at the Red Bull Ring on Friday for the two free practice sessions and the bronze test. The heroes of the two official sessions were Gino Forgione and Andrea Montermini, as the AF Corse Ferrari 488 set the fastest time in 1.29.447, in session 1.
They beat the CBRX by SPS Mercedes of Dexter Müller and Yannick Mettler by 0s154. Local heroes Simon Reicher and Christopher Haase, with the Eastalent Racing Audi R8 LMS, were third, 0s219 behind, after topping the rankings in session 2.
The two title contenders completed the top five, with Marcos Siebert-Diego Menchaca (Motopark Mercedes) 0s240 behind, and Sam De Haan-Charlie Fagg (Optimum Motorsport McLaren) 0s292 away.
Gaps were quite reduced, with 14 cars covered by one second.
An AF Corse Ferrari, the 296 of Alessandro Cozzi-Giorgio Sernagiotto, was fastest among Am cars, but it was local heroes Ernst kirchmays-Philipp Baron, in the Baron Ferrari, topping the Bronze test (1.30.084).
Racing one and Lionspeed GP were among the late non-comers, as well the #11 Kessel Ferrari, the #55 AF Ferrari and the #32 Bonaldi Lambo.
