Maximilian Paul honoured his reputation (and his …. surname!) by taking his fifth pole position of the season this morning, in the Oregon team Lambo shared with Pierre-Louis Chovet. The German stopped the clock in 1.38.900 and commented: “It’s been a long charge back but we are again in the race for the title and it will be very interesting this afternoon.”
Next to him in first row, beaten by a very narrow margin (-0s021), will be the current championship leader and yesterday’s winner, the Eastalent Audi, with Christopher Haase.
In row 2, the two Mercedes of Dominik Baumann (SPS, -0s104) and Faisal Al Zubair (AlManar Get speed, -0s469), and in row 3, the other Oregon Lambo of Daan Arrow (-0s500) and the AF Corse Ferrari of Riccardo Agostini (-0s746).
Another title top contender, Charlie Fagg (Optimum Motorsport McLaren, -0s755) was 7th fastest and sharing with him the fourth row will be the fastest car in Am, the Olimp Racing Ferrari of Krystian Korzeniowski (-0s824).
The fourth title contender, Diego Menchaca (Motopark Mercedes, -1s789) will start from P16.
