Webb-Borodin, first pair announced in one of the McLarens of Greystone GT

02.04.2024

Present in the International GT Open since its inception in 2022, Greystone GT is ready to embark on a second full-season campaign in the series, with two McLaren 720S.

The Silverstone-based team today announced the first of its two line-ups, composed of Oliver Webb (33) and Andrey Borodin (57). The pair will also contest the McLaren Trophy Europe.

Webb (pictured below) has been one of Greystone GT’s most successful drivers to date. He took the team’s first podium finish in its debut season and then added a GT4 win at the Gulf 12 Hours as well as overall victories in the British GT Cup in 2022. Having won races in Formula Renault, F3 and Indy Lights, his switch to sportscars has already resulted in the 2014 European Le Mans Series crown, outright victory at the following year’s Dubai 24 Hours, and an LMP2 podium at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

He will remain with his 2023 British GT Championship co-driver Borodin as the duo switches to the GT Open to once again campaign a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.

Andrey, entering his fourth year as a Greystone GT driver, scored a Silver-Am podium on his British GT debut in 2022 and last year scored three podiums in the UK’s GT Cup as well as setting his first fastest lap and pole position at Silverstone.

Mark McLoughlin, Greystone GT Team Principal, commented: “It’s great to be able to confirm our return to the International GT Open and to have a driver of the quality of Oli at the forefront of our first entry. Oli’s work with his co-driver has helped him develop his skills a huge amount over the past year. While they’re both new to the series, I’m certain we have everything we need to give them the best chance of achieving strong results.”

Oliver Webb added: “I’m really pleased to have programmes in two strong international championships in place with Greystone GT, a team I’ve been part of since their inception and who I’ve seen evolve into a strong operation. GT Open fits brilliantly into the gap between a top GT series and the FIA WEC and having a full grid of GT3 cars will be exciting to be a part of. Andrey has made a lot of progress over the past twelve months and he knows what’s required to compete at this level.”
