Motopark will be in pole position for the GT Open 500 tomorrow in Monza as car #96 with Lukas Dunner and Kuba Giermaziak were the fastest following the combined qualifying, becoming the 12th different polemen of the season. The average of their times was 1.49.362, leaving the second fastest, the Eastalent Audi of Simon Reicher-Christopher Haase 0s072 behind.
Among the top three title contenders, the Austrian outfit (and points co-leader) is the best-placed, as the other co-leader Alessio Deledda is 21st in the Oregon Team Lambo shared with Jordan Pepper and Nicola Marinangeli-Vincent Abril (Spirit of Race Ferrari) are 12th.
The two qualifying sessions had a completely different countenance, with Q1 taking place in the wet and Q2 on a dry track. Fabian Schiller (GetSpeed Mercedes) topped the first session in 1.44.652 ahead of the Motopark cars of Dunner and Siebert. The Argentine, together with Dirgo Menchaca will start third tomorrow (+0s250) sharing second row with Mikaeel Pitamber-Dominik Baumann (SPS Mercedes, +0s317), while Schiller together with Anthony Bartone will be in fifth position (+0s370).
In Q2, a sensational Rubens Barrichello, in his guest appearance with Il Barone Rampante, revived his best days by being the fastest; he and Giuseppe Cipriani will be seventh in the grid (+0s461), right behind Denny Zardo-Philip Ellis, in the Villorba Mercedes (+0s395) with the Swiss second in Q2. The Brazilian star was duly celebrated by his fans and his son Fernando who stars in the Euroformula Open.
In Am, Heiko Neumann and Timo Rumpfkeil, completing the good day of Motopark, will be in pole after Adam Osieka (GetSpeed Mercedes) and Rumpfkeil topped their respective sessions.
