Alex Fontana took his maiden pole in the International GT Open this morning in Portimão. The fast Swiss driver, in the Car Collection Porsche that showed excellent pace throughout the weekend so far, posted a time of 1.39.956 in a qualifying session ahead of Race 2 held in perfect conditions.
“The car works perfectly”, said Alex, “and we benefit from all the great work and data collected last year. Having only one car this year also helps. I am very happy with the work done with the team and the progress made by my teammate ‘Hash’, who is only in his second season at this level of racing. I feel rewarded as a driver but also as a coach.”
The Porsche beat the two Mercedes of Dominik Baumann (SPS, +0s268) and Ralf Aron (GetSpeed, +0s396), with the Eastalent Audi of Christopher Haase (+ 0s450) completing the first two rows.
In third will be the other Porsche of Alexey Nesov (Dinamic, +0s510) and the Motopark Mercedes of Lukas Dunner (+0s513).
Krystian Korzeniowski, in the Olimp Racing Ferrari was the fastest in Am, and will start from P11.
