GT Open legend Andrea Montermini back to the series with Mertel Motorsport

Andrea Montermini is back to the GT Open. The Italian driver, who will turn 60 at the end of the month, has been confirmed by Mertel Motorsport as driver of the #80 Ferrari 488 alongside Luca Ludwig for the rest of the season.

“I am delighted to be back ‘home’, to a championship that means a lot to me”, commented Montermini, “and I’m thankful to do it with a great team such as Mertel Motorsport. I’m anxious to start working with them to further develop the team. It’s a few months that I have not being driving and  I can’t wait to be on track at Spa.”

Montermini, with two titles and 20 races wins, is the most successful driver in GT Open’s history, together with Miguel Ramos. Interesting to note, both ‘evergreens’ are back to the series this season and ready to improve the statistics!
