Team GT from Germany has announced its participation in the 2022 International GT Open. It will be one of the many new entries expected this year. Created in 2018, the Bavarian squad, based in Grünwald, will be making its debut in GT3 racing with a Mercedes AMG, after having been active in GT4, mostly in the European and ADAC series.
The first announced car will be entered in Pro-Am, entrusted to Germany’s Bernhard Laber and Switzerland’s Alain Valente, respectively right and left in the group picture below. Both have extensive GT4 experience, with Laber having competed in the European, ADAC, French and CEZ series, while Valente has also raced in Italian GT3 and Lamborghini SuperTrofeo.
The team is currently working to field a second car and has recently started a program of tests, with first stop at Estoril and next one at Paul Ricard.
Team manager Max Penner commented: “We are delighted to join the GT Open, which we have been eyeing for a time. With its great tracks, competitive races and high performance level, it offers the perfect package for our debut in GT3 racing.”
